- We access System Preferences .
- We click on Security and privacy .
- Now click on the General option .
- Here we must activate the option Allow the Apple Watch to unlock the Mac .
- At this point you will ask for our user password to activate this feature.
- After entering it we will have to wait for the computer to synchronize with the clock.
Note : In step 5, if you do not have the option enabled, you may first need to enable 2-step verification for the password.
Once the Automatic Unlock feature is activated every time we have the Apple Watch on and at rest, if we are just a short step from our Mac, it will be possible to unlock the computer with the watch .
A few seconds later, the Mac will unlock and we will receive a notification in our Apple Watch indicated that the unlocking was successful: Mac unlocked: The “Mac” has been unlocked with this Apple Watch .

Unlocking the Mac with Apple Watch is limited to some devices
The automatic unlocking is a continuity function, so its use is limited to the latest Apple devices , that is, we can use it on all Mac models introduced mid-2013 or later that can use macOS Sierra.
We also need an Apple Watch with watchOS 3 and a minimum iPhone 5 with iOS 10 and they both share the same iCloud account.
