I will place the recommendations in the order in which you should test them. Fix wifi greyed out iPhone 6, iPhone 4s, 5, iPad Grayed Out or Dim
Possible solutions for Wi-Fi disabled: Fix wifi greyed out iPhone 6, iPhone 4s, 5, iPad Grayed Out or Dim
1. Reboot the iPhone
This should always be the first thing you should do when your iPhone presents an unusual error or failure. Anything that may have been stuck in system resources can always create drawbacks. It is a simple procedure that is done by pressing the Home + Shutdown buttons simultaneously for several seconds until the apple logo appears.
2. Resets the Network Settings
When you encounter problems with the Wi-Fi or cellular connection that are not resolved with a reboot of the computer, then what you need to do is reset the network settings. This will eliminate the settings of WiFi networks and cellular connections, but do not worry, it does not erase any data from your computer. The only thing you’ll miss is the VPN that you’ve created and the Wi-Fi keys that you’ve connected to, which you’ll have to replace when you reconnect. To reset the Network settings, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset network settings .
The next step to follow, in case the two previous ones did not work, is to restore the device. Before you do this, be sure to back up all your device data with iTunes on your PC and with iCloud in the cloud. You should remember that if you have Jailbreak, you will lose it when you restore the computer, but fortunately, the moment you edit this note the last iOS (7.1.2) still has Jailbreak available. To restore, just connect your device to your computer, open iTunes and press the Restore iPhone button . Remember to back up first!
4. Warranty or service.
If none of the above passes solved your problem, then we are surely in the presence of a hardware problem. Hardware problems can only be solved by service. If you still have a guarantee, run it in the store where you bought it. If your warranty expired, you should visit a technician, preferably with experience in this type of problem.
5. Unconventional and NOT RECOMMENDED Options
I have read in different forums about unorthodox solutions that I do not really recommend, but I have read them in different sites and different users. One of them is to place the device in the freezer for 10 minutes and then remove it. Another of these follies, which I have not checked myself, is to heat the device until the temperature warning comes out, and then cool it in the freezer. Although these users claim to have fixed the problem well, I DO NOT RECOMMEND that you do this as this could damage the computer. I only mention them as anecdotes of people who say they have solved it as well.
